What is the main difference between current conventional steel construction and Winthrop Pre-Engineering Steel Building systems of construction.
The key difference are that in the Winthrop PRE-ENGINEERED STEEL BUILDING System the complete steel building package is delivered to site from a single supplier as a fully finished product. This includes the structural steel, cladding system and building accessories. Site erection is fast and simple - just bolting together the various building components as per the erection drawings provided. No site fabrication or welding is involved. Results in significant saving in construction time and superior quality compared to conventional steel construction.

Yes, Winthrop and its partners have supplied buildings in Australia, Europe, Middle East, and far East which encompass the full range of weather conditions including snow loads, high desert temperatures, high humidity, proximity to sea, heavy rainfall, cyclone wind speeds, seismic loads, etc. Based on the prevailing conditions at site and building usage, Winthrop will design and manufacture the building to the specified requirements.
Do you give complete building package? What about flooring?
Winthrop can supply the complete steel portion including standard accessories. Accessories that are not manufactured by Winthrop are sourced through our supplier network and included in Winthrop scope of supply.
For flooring, Winthrop has partnered with SBS of Australia and provides the patented SupaFloor TM system.
Are your connections site bolted or welded?
All field connections are only by bolting. There is absolutely no site welding required. This is one of the major advantages with the Winthrop system, which considerably reduces the time for site erection.
Is it possible to dismantle the building and rebuild at another place? What will be the cost of new and reassembled building ?
Yes, since the building is site assembled by bolting, it is possible to dismantle and rebuild at a new location. The cost-benefits have to be worked out on a case by case basis which would depend on size, complexity and distance to new location.
What about lightning hitting the structure?
A steel framed structure is no more likely to be hit by lightning than a wood or masonry structure. The difference is that when lightening hits a wood or concrete framed house, lightning can set it on fire. With our system, the I-Beam columns provide multiple grounding points. The lightening is conducted out through these.
